What is Discover America Committee in Taiwan ? What can Visit USA Committee do for you?

Discover America Committee in Taiwan is an organization which has designed a special program to promote and represent major U.S. tourist destinations in developing markets in Taiwan. The Committee will serve as a valuable liaison and will be working closely between the United States and all the members in Taiwan, to increase interest in visiting the U.S.

As a member, you will benefit from a package of services tailored to fit your special needs; will be prominently featured in our committee’s newsletters, on our website and at our events. The Taiwan Visit USA Committee wants very much to help develop greater visibility for your destination, and we hope you will join us and other partners investing in a very promising future of this flourishing travel market. Visit USA Committee throughout the world have one goal, which is to work with all interested organizations in order to promote business and leisure travel to the United States. The Committee will also organize U.S. travel shows and help to develop interest in new travel destinations in and within the United States.

Members’ Rights and Obligations. Full members shall have the following rights and obligations:

a. Membership Rights: All members shall have the right to vote at general meetings, to participate in Discover America Committee in Taiwan member activities and to enjoy member discounts on events as available.

b. Membership Obligations: All members of Discover America Committee in Taiwan shall be obligated to pay the market promotion fee and all other amounts owed to Discover America Committee in Taiwan and to abide by these Bylaws and all resolutions of Discover America Committee in Taiwan`s Executive Committee. Amounts owed to Discover America Committee in Taiwan by a member shall be enforceable by Discover America Committee in Taiwan and shall survive resignation or expulsion of the member.

Market Promotion Fees. Market Promotion Fees for full membership in the Discover America Committee in Taiwan will be charged at an annual rate determined by the Executive Committee. New members joining more than 6 months into the fiscal year will be charged one-half of the annual fee. The initial annual Market Promotion Fee is NT$10,000 for local members and US$600 for U.S. based members. Changes to the Market Promotion Fee must be passed by a two-thirds majority vote in the Executive Committee.

Activities & Services. Discover America Committee in Taiwan will maintain an open forum for the purpose of bringing together all interested members of the travel industry in order to discuss, plan and implement programs designed to increase Visit USA business. The main activities of Discover America Committee in Taiwan shall be:

a. Hold Events & Meeting: Discover America Committee in Taiwan will hold events and meetings as determined by the working groups, as permitted by the Executive Committee, to achieve its objectives. These events and meetings could include, but would not be limited to:

*Regular meetings as needed
*Tourism exhibitions that focuses on the USA Smaller scale seminars for the travel trade / tourists Participation in other tourism related events(ITF, other smaller travel-related events)
*Events and promotions organized by region (i.e., Pacific Northwest, Midwest, East Coast etc.)

b. Generate Publicity: Discover America Committee in Taiwan will use several means by which to
Gain publicity and name recognition for travel to the United States. Means to achieve publicity could include, but would not be limited to:
*Publishing newsletters about travel in the USA and provide highlights of Discover America Committee in Taiwan member attractions
*Printing a Discover America Committee in Taiwan brochure to highlight Discover America Committee in Taiwan background, objectives, activities, and members. The brochure would be distributed among the local travel trade and media
*Developing a Chinese-language Web site with member information, Discover America Committee in Taiwan news and events, useful links, and other appropriate information
*Submitting press releases regarding travel in the USA
*Organizing media familiarization tours to the US
*FIT promotions
*Tie-in promotions

c. Foster Relationships Local Travel Trade: Discover America Committee in Taiwan will establish strong relationships with the local travel trade (travel agents, tour operators, airlines, hotels, etc.) to facilitate more effective cooperation with Discover America Committee in Taiwan members.

d. Gather Market Intelligence: Discover America Committee in Taiwan will collect information about the Taiwan overseas travel market and distribute it to its members and for use as a reference in developing promotional strategies.
